DIY Fall Home Improvements and Updates

As we transition into the cooler weather, it’s time to think about spending more time indoors.  We should try to complete those indoor projects that we have been putting off because we enjoyed being outdoors in the summer and fall months.  Plan to tackle a room each week, by simply de-cluttering and re-organizing some of your furniture and décor making it easier for you to maintain the upkeep of your home on a daily basis.

Listed below are 3 tips to help you get started:

  1. Our kitchens and bathrooms are our busiest rooms in the house and probably the most challenging to keep organized. Simply purchase basket containers to clear counters and organize your cupboard space making daily clean-ups a little bit easier.
  2. A fresh coat of paint does wonders!  Have a painting party with friends or family.  Choose a neutral eggshell or matte finish.  Paint walls, trim and cupboards using a washable surface paint to keep it looking fresher longer.  Who doesn’t like some form of shopping! Search for stylish new hardware, doors and/or light fixtures to improve the overall feeling of your home. AND then add a ‘pop of color’ with pillows and paintings!
  3. So, now with freshly painted walls and organized cupboards, your carpet or flooring is looking ‘tired and dated’ right? Why not replace your flooring with a product that will work best for you and your family and pets, if you have them. Choose from a variety of flooring like hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, tile, or area carpets.

Using the above tips, it’s important to put a budget together first, before starting any home improvement project, whether you are hiring a professional or doing the work yourself.  Questions?  Let’s get in touch and we can discuss the options that work best for you.

These are just a few Simple Steps you can do, if you are thinking of listing your home in the coming months or are just looking for a fresher update in time for the Christmas season.  After all, don’t we need to make a little extra room for the Christmas tree, and festive decorations?
